Lake Sevan is considered to be one of the largest sweet water lakes in the world, situated at an altitude of 1,897 meters above sea level. Climb on peninsula from where the fascinating view on the Lake is open. Visit Sevanavank monastery, built by the princess Mariam to honor the life of her deceased husband in the 9th century. It is one of the oldest spiritual centers of medieval Armenia, as well as the largest university of its time. Due to the construction of Tatev, the longest ropeway in the world (5,7km), from Halidzor to Tatev, the monastery complex is now available to everyone and has become one of the most visited places in Armenia.
